How do I sync my zMailCloud calendars using CalDAV in iCal?

Summary

iCal & Mac OS 10.8+ syncs your zMailCloud account calendars, including calendars shared to you.

Instructions

1. Open the Mac Calendar application.

2. Go to Calendar > Preferences:

3. Click on Accounts at the top of the Preferences window and click the + sign to add a new account:

4. In the new account pane, select CalDAV as the account type:

5. Select Manual from the account type drop-down list and enter your account information:

Username: your full zMailCloud email address
Password: your password
Server Address: yourcustomname.zmailcloud.com (if you are unsure what your custom server address is, please contact your Administrator or our help desk).

Note: Accounts which login at https://server.zmailcloud.com/ to check webmail should use the server address: server.zmailcloud.com

Once you have entered your info, click Create to add your account to the Mac Calendar application.

Additional note:

We have received reports of iCal sync responding with the following error message when trying to schedule or modify appointments in iCal after upgrading to Mac OS 10.8:

The server responded with 400 to operation CalDAVWriteEntityQueueableOperation.

To resolve the issue, click iCal (in upper left corner) > Preferences > Alerts. Select your zMailCloud account set a default alert to anything other than none (15 minutes before, for example) in the Events field. Also make sure “Use these default alerts on only this computer” is NOT checked:

How to sync zMailCloud calendars using CalDAV (iOS)

This article describes the steps to sync your zMailCloud account using CalDAV as the connection type for iOS devices (iPhone & iPad).

1. Open the Settings application.

2. Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars:

3. To add a CalDAV account, select Add Account:

4. Select Other:

5. Select Add CalDAV account as the account type:

6. Enter your account information and press next:

Server: yourcustomname.zmailcloud.com*

* Replace yourcustomname.zmailcloud.com with your custom server address name.  If you are unsure what your custom server address is, please contact your Administrator or email us at: support[at]zmailcloud.com.  Note: Accounts which login at https://server.zmailcloud.com/ to check webmail should use the server address: server.zmailcloud.com  

User Name: your full zMailCloud email address Password: your password .

Your CalDAV account should be successfully connected. If you need further assistance, please submit a ticket.

Configuring a zMailCloud IMAP Account in Mac Mail

How To setup a zMailCloud IMAP Account in Mac Mail:

Launch Apple Mail:

Click on Mail  in the upper left corner of Mail.app, then select Preferences. Note: if setting up Mac Mail for the 1st time, select Add Other Mail Account:

In the Preferences window, click on Accounts:

In the Accounts pane, notice the + button in the lower left hand corner. Click on the + button will populate a new window to add your new account.

Select Add Other Mail Account as the account type:

Enter your account information in the Add Account fields, using your full email address in the email address field:

Name: your full name
Email address: your full zMailCloud email address
Password: your Zimbra password
Click Sign In

On the next screen, enter your server information:

Email address: your full email address

Username: your full email address

Password: Your Password

Account type: IMAP

Incoming Mail Server: yourdomain.zmailcloud.com (replace yourdomain.zmailcloud.com with your own custom server address.  To lookup your custom server address for incoming/outgoing server, please lookup your address at: https://zmailcloud.com/uncategorized/check-your-zmailcloud-server-address/

Outgoing Mail Server: yourdomain.zmailcloud.com (replace yourdomain.zmailcloud.com with your own custom server address.

Select Sign In

On the next page, select the items you wish to sync and click Done.

Congratulations!  Your account is now setup in Mac Mail.

 

 

 

 

 

Configuring Thunderbird for use with your zMailCloud account

Download and install Thunderbird using the directions here: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/

 

After installing thunderbird, you may be prompted to obtain a new email address.  Click “Skip this and use my existing email”

Enter your name, zMailCloud email address and password, and click continue.

After clicking “continue”, click “Manual config”

For incoming settings, select IMAP

Incoming Settings:

Server hostname: yourcompany.zmailcloud.com* (Note: Accounts which login at https://server.zmailcloud.com/ to check webmail should use the incoming server address: server.zmailcloud.com)

*If you don’t know your custom server hostname, please contact your Domain Administrator, or the help desk.

Port: 993

SSL: SSL/TLS

Authentication: Normal Password

 

Outgoing settings

SMTP

Server hostname: yourcompany.zmailcloud.com* (Note: Accounts which login at https://server.zmailcloud.com/ to check webmail should use the outgoing server address: smtp.01.com)

*If you don’t know your custom server hostname, please contact your Domain Administrator, or the help desk.

Port: 587

SSL: STARTTLS

Authentication: Normal Password

Username: your full zMailCloud email address

Once all of your settings are entered, click done.  You are now ready to use Thunderbird with your zMailCloud Account.

Outlook IMAP Setup

Setting up your zMailCloud Account as an IMAP account in Microsoft Outlook

Please Note: These instructions will only synchronize email to Outlook, not calendars and contacts.  To use all features of your zMailCloud Account including calendar, contact, and shared folder sync, please see the following KB article:
To start, open Outlook and go to File > Info > Account Settings > Email account tab > New Account and select Internet E-mail as the account type:

Fill in the appropriate information and put a check in the box at the bottom to Manually Configure Server Settings:

Click Next.  Fill in the your name, email address and select IMAP as the account type.

Incoming Mail Server: yourcustomaddress.zmailcloud.com

Outgoing Mail Server: yourcustomaddress.zmailcloud.com

*If you do not know your custom address, please ask your domain administrator or contact the help desk.

Enter your full email address for your User Name and your email password.

Before clicking Next, click on More Settings.  Then click the Outgoing Server Tab.  Select, My outgoing server requires authentication, and Use same settings as my incoming mail server:

Now click on the Advanced tab.  For the Incoming server use port 993 and select SSL for the encryption method. For the Outgoing server (SMTP) use port 587 with Auto for the encryption method: (Note: Outlook 2003 users may need to use port 587 as the outgoing port with SSL encryption).  Click OK when done making changes:

Click next, and Outlook will test that it can access your email and send messages. If both are successful then setup is complete. If it does not work, please review your settings.
