Why zMailCloud over Exchange Server?

Written by Jay Cihla on . Posted in Uncategorized

Many customers choose zMailCloud as an alternative to Microsoft’s Exchange Server.  Here are just a few of the most common reasons for selecting the zMailCloud solution:

Cloud vs On Premise

Where an application sits and who owns the servers are important considerations for many businesses. zMailCloud exists entirely in the cloud. Microsoft Exchange Server was built as an on-site solution that has struggled to accommodate the proliferation of new devices and the move to virtualization and the cloud.  With zMailCloud’s cloud-based architecture your organization can bypass all of the headaches of maintaining your own hardware.

Consistent User Experience

Wireless access, virtualization, and cloud computing are creating a continuous global computing environment in which users will expect consistency of operation and features from critical applications. zMailCloud offers this consistency with a web client that is consistent across Safari, Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome browsers on Windows, Mac, and Linux clients.  For user preferring a desktop application, ZMC offers a downloadable client that works the same online or off.  zMailCloud also gives committed Outlook users full support of their favorite client with no loss of major functionality.

Device Support

The zMailCloud commitment to open standards extends across third-party email clients that support IMAP, POP, CardDAV, CalDAV, and Apple’s iSync, including iPhone, Android, Windows, and Blackberry smartphones. zMailCloud extends that commitment through close collaborative relationships with hardware, OS, application software and network providers across the industry.

Support and Costs

Microsoft Exchange is still renowned for its proprietary, single-platform focus, and high administrative and operational costs.  zMailCloud offers a more economical option, with no hardware or licensing costs.  You pay an affordable per-user price, making it easy to expand the solution as your organization grows.  And with 24×7 end-user support, your team has an always-available resource for troubleshooting.

How do I recover data I accidentally deleted from my mailbox?

Written by Jay Cihla on . Posted in Uncategorized

We backup your mailbox every day for 30 days, and so can recover/restore/undelete your mailbox in the cloud environment up to 48 days in the past. This means that you can contact us with a request to restore your mailbox from, for example, 4 weeks ago, so that you can retrieve a message or attachment you deleted at that time.

We will restore your mailbox under a different name, such as restored_mailbox, you can login, find your information, and send it to yourself. To request restoration, please submit a ticket here in our help desk with the subject: Restore Mailbox. Please include the date, time & time zone you would like to restore the account to.

-IMPORTANT BILLING NOTE-

To avoid charges for the mailbox on your next invoice, please remove the restored mailbox through the Domain Admin at https://zimbraadmin.01.com/ before the 28th of this month or contact billing via email to billing@01.com to request a 1 month extension if you would like additional time to review the restored mailbox.

Given these requests are not abused, we perform this service free-of-charge for zMailCloud clients. It normally takes us less than 48 hours to perform these requests.

Note that you may keep your mail in your account as long as you like, we have an unlimited retention policy (except in the case of mail stored in your Trash or Junk folders, which it is our standard policy to delete after 30 days – and you may alter this policy per domain, by request).

Our backup gives us the ability to recover (“undelete”, “roll-back”) even deleted email and other data. Whereas our Legal Compliance (Discovery) service, extends the capability even further but only with email and attachments, enables a separate, private, searchable archive of all inbound and outbound mail for select mailboxes, across mailboxes, including headers and most attachments for as long as you maintain the archiving service.

How to Avoid Phishing Scams

Written by Jay Cihla on . Posted in Uncategorized

What is Phishing?

Phishing is a process where a third-party, posing as a trustworthy entity, fraudulently attempts to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, or credit card/bank details via electronic communications.

Where does Phishing occur?

Phishing often occurs via email, text, or instant messaging and it typically directs users to fraudulent websites which look and feel almost identical to the legitimate site.

How to Avoid a Phishing Attempt

  • Be wary of any communications asking for financial or personal account information. The best defense is not to respond to such communications. If you have concerns about your personal accounts, telephone your hosting company, the bank or credit card company, and confirm the information request over the phone.
  • Do not trust links in emails.Type in the destination of the website into the browser yourself. Phishing attempts often display a valid-looking website address in the body of a message, but in actuality the links direct to fraudulent sites. Often, just hovering one’s mouse over a link will indicate that the website address displayed in the email is really a link to a different location.
  • Verify the sender of the email. Often phishing scams will put a friendly display name in the From: field, but upon examination the From address shows a completely different sender. For example: “01.com Customer Service” may appear in the From: field followed by an email address of: uulabaar4149@fpt.vn.
  • Some browsers have built-in phishing protection to warn of fraudulent sites. Keep your browser up-to-date with all current security patches.
  • Regularly check your bank and other financial statements to make sure all charges are legitimate.
  • Be wary of any attachments, especially ones that are executable. This can include Document files, spreadsheets, and Zip files. Many times these can be programs that can damage data on your computer or collect information as you use your system.

Your 01.com Account

  • Send e-mail asking you to reply by sending personal information
  • Send executable attachments in an unsolicited e-mail
  • Share your name with any contacts outside our firm in a manner inconsistent with our Privacy Policy
